Electrical circuits with pre-schoolers

Teaching about electric circuits to 4 to 7 year olds – all in 1.5 hours – was an interesting new challenge.

The class began with the basics – what is electricity? what are electrons? what is an open and closed circuit?

The main take-home idea I wanted to convey was that electricity involved a continuous flow of energy.

The students even drew their own closed and open circuit diagrams!

This was emphasised further by their final project – a light-up greeting card with a “switch” – a demonstration of open and closed circuits.

The students were very engaged and interested!

This class was a program offered by Science Bridge Academy, Malaysia.
